What we collect

When you place an order we ask for your name, email address, phone number and delivery address. That is the whole list. We need it to pack your parcel, hand it to the courier, and call you if the address is unclear.

If you create an account, your email address and name are stored so your past orders appear when you sign in. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are never visible to us. If you sign in by phone, only your number is stored. If you sign in with Apple in our iPhone app, Apple gives us only your name and an email address, which can be a private Apple address that forwards to you.

If you allow notifications in our iPhone app, Apple gives the app an address for your phone. We keep it with the kinds of news you chose, the orders placed from that phone and, if you are signed in, your account, so that the right messages reach the right phone.

What we do with it

  • Pack and post your order.
  • Contact you about that order by phone or WhatsApp.
  • Email you when your order is confirmed, posted and delivered. Each of these emails also links to our review page on Google; whether you leave a review is up to you.
  • Show you your own order history when you are signed in.
  • In our iPhone app, if you allow it: notify you when your order moves, and when new books arrive or a sale starts if you chose those too. Each kind can be switched off in the app, under Account.

We do not sell your details, rent them, or hand them to anyone for marketing. The only outside parties who see any of it are the courier who delivers your parcel, Google, whose Gmail carries our order emails to you, Apple, which carries the iPhone app's notifications, and, if you pay online, Razorpay.

Payments

For cash on delivery we never see card or bank details at all. For online payments the transaction happens on Razorpay's own page. We receive a payment reference, nothing more. No card number ever reaches this website.

Where it is stored

Orders and account details are kept on secure servers with access controls, so that only you, signed in to your own account, and the shop owner can see your orders. We keep anonymous visit statistics to understand how the site is used.

Cookies

We use browser storage to remember your cart, your chosen language, and your sign-in session. There are no advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

Your choices

Write to us and we will send you a copy of everything we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete your account and its order history. We keep completed order records for accounting for three years, then remove them. Deleting our iPhone app stops its notifications, and its phone address is removed the next time we try to send one.
